Research Interests:
In terms of research, Dr. Hunt's primary interest is in students' cognitive styles. His dissertation, titled "Communication and Cognition: Students' Cognitive Styles and the Argumentation and Debate Course," explored the communicative manifestations of students' cognitive styles in the Argumentation and Debate course at SIUC. Dr. Hunt is also interested in the communication needs of students' at-risk and the role communication plays in the classroom in the construction of at-riskness.

Teaching Interests:
As the co-director of the basic communication course at ISU, Stephen spends a great deal of his time teaching COM 110 and training/mentoring graduate students to teach COM 110. Beyond the basic course, Stephen has interests in teaching courses that explore persuasion, argumentation, learning styles, and the communication needs of students-at-risk.
